Relpax

eletriptan hydrobromide

Relpax (eletriptan hydrobromide) is an antimigraine medication. Many people find that their migraines go away completely after they take eletriptan. Other people find that their migraines are much less painful, and that they are able to go back to their normal activities even though their migraines are not completely gone.

Relpax belongs to a group of drugs called "triptans". Migraines are thought to occur when certain blood vessels in the brain become swollen (dilated). This drug works by helping blood vessels in the brain to return to normal size. It may also block pain signals in the brain.

Relpax is used to treat migraines when they occur. It helps to relieve headaches, pain, and other symptoms of migraines, including nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light/sound. However, Relpax does not prevent future migraines or reduce how often you may get a migraine. Relpax should only be used during a genuine attack of classic migraine. Do not use it for tension headaches, cluster headaches, or unusual types of migraine such as hemiplegic or basilar migraine.

Relpax relieves the pain and symptoms of even the worst migraines. It works fast and is well tolerated. For some people, Relpax starts to work in 30 minutes. And, most people are able to get back to their day within 2 hours.

It is best to take one Relpax tablet whenever you feel migraine pain coming on. Take one 20 mg tablet with water. You don't have to take Relpax with food. If the headache goes away but returns later, a second dose may be taken if 2 hours have elapsed since the first dose.

Usually side effects are mild and do not last long. Only a small percentage of people have side effects when taking Relpax (e.g. dizziness, nausea, weakness, tiredness). And, in general, they are not bad enough to stop people from taking Relpax.
